Join me and the dogs for a hike up the mountain at 8.00am Saturday 31 October 2026 at the winery.
This will be a moderate 2 hour walk through the vineyards and about halfway up the Helderberg, following the Blouklip Trail Run route. The path is reasonably good with a few short steep inclines that will require all fours for a few metres. The vertical gain will be about 250m, over about 5 km, so everyone needs to be reasonably fit. This hike is quite safe and accessible and will NOT be cancelled due to inclement weather.
We will walk at the pace of the slowest (which might be me) and stop for birdwatching, plants and flowers and to admire the views. It’s important to wear long pants and proper hiking boots or trail running shoes as much of the trail is not a trail at all and the fynbos can be very scratchy. You will also need to carry at least 1L water, jumper, snacks etc.
After the hike Chef Louise will have a steak roll, wine and coffee waiting at the winery and of course, we’ll be open as usual for tasting and purchases.
