We will repeat a tasting we presented in 2019, now 5 years on. In 2017 I was fortunate enough to visit Bordeaux and taste all the 2015 wines presented here in barrel, as well as many others. 2015 is one of the great years in Bordeaux and in Stellenbosch, so it’s an ideal opportunity to do a head-to-head tasting. The wines will be presented in pairs, blind one Stellenbosch and one Bordeaux. You simply need to say which you prefer, and which is the Stellenbosch wine. Last time Stellenbosch won by a whisker, so let’s see what will happen 5 years on?
The following Bordeaux wines will be tasted: Chateau Pichon Lalande, Pauillac; Domaine de Chevalier, Pessac Leognan; Chateau Pontet Canet, Pauillac; Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac; Chateau Calon Segur, St Estephe and Chateau Haut Brion, Graves 2011.
We’ll keep the Stellenbosch wines a mystery for now. The total value of wine: R47 000.
